The mens 1sts completed their league fixtures last weekend with a 3-1 win over YM. Initially going a goal down they came back level at half time before finishing the tie off in the 2nd half. It leaves them 3rd in the league for the season, with the best defensive record to boast. Their season is not over yet though as they play Fingal on Thursday evening at 7.45 in the 1st round of the Neville Cup, followed by YM again on Sunday in the semi final of the Mills Cup. That game will be played at 4pm in Rathdown, and follows the other semi of Monkstown v Fingal.
The mens 2nds were beaten by YM 4-1 on Sunday as YM coached by Justin Sherriff sealed their division 4 title. The 2s have their last league fixture against Railway away this Saturday.
The 3rds game with Corinthinas was abandoned due to snow on Saturday! This week they play Rathgar at home at 11am this week, while the 4ths, who lost 3-1 to Fingal play Kilkenny on the back pitch at 2pm. The 5ths came undone to Bray 3-0 in freezing conditions, as they played through the snow that was starting to stick Saturday lunchtime.
On the ladies side the 1s return to action in a vital double weekend. Nothing but full points will do between their game against Trinity at 1pm on Saturday, and Bray at 10.30am on Sunday away.
The 2s look to introduce some budding u16s this week as they play Swords at home at 11am. The 3rds meanwhile won against Genesis 2-0 in their race for survival. Taking more points this week against Loreto at 12.30 at home will be key. Some of the u16s also got their 1st taste of senior hockey with the 4ths last week. Unfortunately they lost to a strong Avoca 2nds. They play Guiness at home at 3.30 on Saturday.
On the juniors side, Sunday marks a big day across all Juniors hockey with over 38 league, plate and cup finals taking place. The full schedule can be seen at http://www.leinsterhockey.ie/clubNote/218203/Junior_Girls_Clubs_Finals_Day. From a Three Rock perspective the 16Bs are in Corinthins in the Junior C league at 3.30, 14Bs are home in the minor C plate at 11, and 16As are in the Junior A plate at 9 in UCD. Best of luck to everyone!
Each year the committee is given a fundraising target to reach. This is an important source of income to the club, especially now given recent drops in external income.
The club are extremely conscious that our members contribute a lot as it is. For that reason we do not wish to be asking the same people for money all the time.
With that in mind we will host a fundraiser in the laughter lounge on Thursday March 21st.
Tickets are €25 with a large proportion of that going directly into the club.
You get a free drink if you arrive before 7.30pm.
The act for the night is a British comedy award nominee John Maloney plus others.
As its a neutral venue we hope that players will ask their friends and colleagues to go and have a good night. As its a not a hockey event we hope this will make it easier to sell, thereby not pressurising our own members.
If players purchase 6 tickets they get one free so plenty of reason to grab a few friends.
This is really important that we support this for the club. Ali and Rob will be up selling tickets in the next few weeks.
Tickets must be presold, you cannot purchase them at the door
Please contact Ali (0863762075) or Rob (0863875017) for tickets

The mens 3rds are proving to be an unstoppable force at the moment as they won their 9th game in a row last week against Portrane. They currently sit top of division 5 but its looking like a tight race. They will look to continue their run once again this week as they travel to Naas.
The 4ths took on Naas last week and ran out 6-2 winners. They face Fingal away at 2pm on Saturday. The 5ths came up against a very strong Wicklow team last week and lost 4-0. They look to bounce back at home at 2pm v Bray this week.
The mens 2nds who lost to Pembroke last week, have Saturday free but will play YM away at 4.30pm in Alex on Sunday. They are preceded by the mens 1sts at 3pm, in what is their last league game of the season. They are assured an IHL spot next season but where they finish in the league will depend on other results on the day.
On the ladies side the 1sts will be disappointed with their 3-0 loss to Genesis. They are still in with a shot for promotion playoff but need to win all their remaining games. They have this weekend free.
The 2nds fell 5-1 to a strong Loreto side and face Our lades away at 1pm. The 3rds battle to survive continues as they face Genesis at home at 11am. They were beaten 3-0 by Rathgar last Saturday. The 4ths also have an early start at 11.15 at home to Avoca. They will hope it is not as strong a team as YM 2nds who trounced home 13-0 last weekend.
The indoor team that travelled to Budapest last weekend did what was required to ensure Irelands place within the C division of European indoor club hockey. Having entered the tournament as the 8th ranked team the lads started well winning 6-2 in their first game against the Slovenian team.
Next up were the Italian club Bra, the eventual tournament winners. This game ended 2-1 but in truth it will be seen as a lost opportunity as the guys failed to convert their chances.
Day 2 saw two good performances against the Danish and the Hungarians. The Danish Orient Lyngby started well putting 2 early goals past us, while once again we failed to be clinical in front of goal. Having been 4-0 down the lads made it a frantic finish by coming back to 5-3. The final score however meant they faced into the relegation pool.
The Hungarian team Sorokarsi won out 5-2 winners later that day, scoring 3 within the last 16 minutes.
On the final day, other results meant that a draw against the Turkish club was likely to be enough to prevent relegation. Leaving nothing to chance though, the guys won 8-4 and finished the tournament in 6th place.
Huge thanks to Liam Canning for all his work with this squad.

We are delighted that Colly our club manager and 1st XI player, will be joining his wife and previous club captain Anna in London in a few weeks time. Colly has therefore handed in his resignation as Club Manager. He will be finishing up on 1st of March.
We would like to thank Colly for everything that he has done and wish him and Anna the very best together in London. We do hope to see them regularly at the Club.
Crunch weekend for the ladies 1sts this weekend as they face Genesis away at 2.30 in UCD. Genesis are the closest 1st XI to the girls in the league and beating them would go a long way in helping ensure a playoff place at the end of the season.
The 3rds also face an important last few games as they aim to avoid relegation. Unfortunately they narrowly lost both last Saturday and in a re-fixed game last Monday, but will hope to get the better of Rathgar away at the very early time of 10am.
The 2nds face Loreto at home at 2.30, and make the trip to Carlow on Sunday in the newly developed Leinster Cup for div3/4 teams and those within South-East.
The 4ths were beaten by Hermes last Saturday 4-0 and play a strong YM team home at 11.15 this week.
On the mens side the 1sts guaranteed themselves at worst an IHL playoff place by beating top of the table Pembroke in a furiously paced game last weekend. Peter Blakeney was on hand with a superb hat-trick to seal the 3-2 win. They have no league fixtures this week as the indoor side travels to Budapest.
There was mixed fortunes for the 2nds as they won 3-0 against UCD on Saturday but game undone on Tuesday against Glenanne, losing that tie 4-2.
It was a lucky day in Serpentine Avenue last Saturday as the 3rds continued their fantastic run by beating Pembroke 2-1. This brings their total to 8 wins out of the last 9 games. They play at home at 11 against Portrane this weekend. The 4ths meanwhile are due to play Naas at home at 2.30.
In junior news the u12 boyswon the recent Pembroke u12 tournament beating YMCA 5-3 in the final. The boys lost to Corinthians and having drawn with Pembroke needed wins against Monkstown and YMCA in their last 2 games which they managed leading to a three way tie which need a shoot off again both Pembroke and YM with the boys winning both they qualified to the final. All very tense and after three hours, tiring for the squad. Well done everyone!
