Photos, awards and a huge amount raised for the club!

The club dinner last weekend was a huge success with over 130 guests from all avenues of the club in attendance, and a guest of honour the IHA president Richard Kendrick. The party kicked off at 8pm with the last of the revellers still present at 4am!!!! Always a sign of a good night!

The evening saw the annual awards presented with a huge number of over 250 votes cast this year. Congrats to all those nominated and especially to the winners on the night:
Mens player of the year: Phil Shearer
Women player of the year: Sara Cali
Volunteer of the year: Brona Empey

Our raffle, along with our silent auction was a huge success….thanks to all those who donated prizes and bought tickets.

As this was a club fundraiser it was vital to make as much as possible and it was heartening to see so many people in the club helping in so many ways from selling tickets, buying tickets, donating prizes, and helping with the organising on the night. All the hard work paid off as a grand total of over €5700 was made!!! Thanks again to all who made the night a success. Special thanks must go to Grace O’Malley who ran the event and drove it from behind the scenes in all areas.

Some pictures of the night are now on site in the photo section of the website.

Lots of upcoming events which need your time and assistance in whatever way you can!

TRRHC is proud to be a hosting hotspot when it comes to hockey tournaments! The feedback we receive is always positive, and the events we host offer us fantastic opportunities to showcase our wonderful club, facilities, and atmosphere to all who visit!

However these events dont run by themselves, and are usually successful thanks to the efforts and help of our wonderful club members who volunteer. This year we have two major events within 6 weeks of each other that we need your help for!

The first is the Irish Hockey Finals on April 11th and 12th. The showcase of club hockey, we will play host to the top 8 teams in the country as they battle it out in semis and finals to be crowned Irish champions. Our own mens 1sts team will be playing in the event, offering any volunteers the opportunity to watch their game for free while also helping the club!!! We need volunteers over the weekend for stints of car parking, gate receipts, PA announcer/music player, and clean up. If you have 1-2 hours to spare over the weekend we would be very grateful.

The next event is the EuroHockey Trophy May 22nd-25th. This is a huge event for the club as we host a European club event in Dublin for the first time in 6 years. Once again our mens 1sts will play in the tournament, and so you can watch them for free in exchange for your time! We need lots of help for this event given its scale. Volunteers are required as team liaisons, drivers for the officials, gate control, clean up, PA, and car parking. If you have any time to spare over the weekend, again please contact us and we will accommodate your time preferences.

All offers of help are greatly appreciated!!! Contact Ali Keogh (alisonfkeogh@gmail.com) initially with your name and details for both events, and in the next few weeks our volunteer liaisons will be in contact with times and details.

Help make our club shine to all in Ireland and Europe!

Leinster league re-structure 2015/2016, the passing of Niall Roche, Dundrum FC, World League Round 2 win, junior trips, Easter camps, Ed Sports!

Dundrum FC Ladies
Dundrum’s senior ladies team season starts between April to May and finishes at the end of summer. They are looking for interested hockey players who wish to stay fit in the summer months. Contact s.c.gray@hotmail.com for more info.

Sad news
All at TRRHC would like to pass their condolences to the family of Niall Roche following his recent passing. Niall was a stalwart of Leinster and Irish hockey, umpiring mens div 2 up until recently, while also still officiating on technical tables at countless tournaments and matches. This St.Patricks day finals won’t be the same without him watching from the bar. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.

Leinster re-structuring next season
A recent forum held by the LHA outlines the changes that will occur to all leagues next season, assuming the proposed full IHL goes ahead.
For both the mens and ladies senior leagues this year, no relegation will take place. Promotion of 4-5 teams (depending on mens or ladies) will take place in each league to fill the gaps left by those in Div 1 who will be in the new IHL. This means that some of our teams will be promoted next season depending on a top 4-5 finish. This change in structure is obviously dependant on the full IHL commencing as is planned. Further details can be seen at the Hook:
