Many thanks to all volunteers last weekend

Huge thanks to all our super club volunteers who lined out for us last weekend in the IHL finals. We had over 40 different people, and 12 ball patrols from our junior side work for us over the weekend as we hosted the biggest club event of the season.

Our huge volunteer effort was noticed by many people, not least the IHA themselves who have passed on their thanks and congratulations to us on the running of such a successful event.

The weekend offered a good practice before we host the EuroHockey Trophy in just over 5 weeks time! We will be seeking help over that weekend in the next 2 weeks so please be sure to keep the 22nd to 25th of May. Events like this cant be run without the valuable help and time of all our members. We are proud to host these events and are equally proud that we can do it with the support of our own members who show our facilities and our values off in the best way!

Unfortunately we were not as successful on the pitch as we were off the pitch. The mens 1sts finished their game against Monkstown 4-4 and needed a penalty shoot out to decide the final spot. Unfortunately Monkstown won 4-2, and went on to beat Bainbridge in the final, ensuring their national title for the 3rd year in a row.

The mens 2s still have a shot at a national final this week though as they face Annadale at home in the Irish Junior Cup semi final at 3pm.All support greatly welcomed as they bid to reach the final!

Don’t forget the PGM and AGM next Thursday the 23rd of April

The PGM and AGM of the club will take place on Thursday the 23rd of April. The PGM starts at 7pm, while the AGM will take place immediately after at 7.30pm.

In order to speed up proceedings we have sent out last years minutes in advance. If you have not received a copy but wish to please contact Ali at alisonfkeogh@gmail.com

Our u16s meet the senior teams this weekend before moving up next season!

Our annual Here Come The Girls Tournament is being held this Sunday morning! From 11.30am to 1pm the u16 girls will get to meet and play with the senior women. Last years event was a great success with many of the girls successfully transitioning to the senior side this year, integrating themselves into all aspects including the social events and volunteering.

This years event will look to do the same by bringing the juniors and seniors together to play mini games and meet each other.

Make sure to come up on Sunday to meet all our future stars!

Its semi final time for the mens 1sts as the club hosts the IHL finals for a 4th time!

Turning the club blue and brown for the weekend is the aim as we look to support the mens 1st XI in their Irish Hockey League semi final on Saturday!!!

The guys take on local rivals Monkstown who they face in an Irish semi for the 4th time in just 2 years. The game tips off at 5pm as the last game of what is a huge day of hockey in HQ! A win will see them into the final of this competition on Sunday at 4pm for the first time since its creation. The lads were last in an All Ireland Final in 2008 in the competitions old Club Championship format. Don’t underestimate the support that a home crowd brings to such a huge event so please get down and support them in club colours and ensure everyone knows they are in the home of TRR!!!!

The game takes place in a huge weekend for the club as we host these finals for the 4th time, more than any other club in the country! The Wooden Spoon is open with their usual selection of great food, while the bar will also be open. On top of that we also have a Heineken tent and chip van in the front car park, and a seating stand for 100 people. The atmosphere is bound to be electric all weekend as we welcome the best clubs in the country for their final weekend of hockey this season.

Should you want free entry and a free lunch, please be sure to contact Scott Crombie at scottcrombie@gmail.com. Volunteering just 2 hours of your time will ensure you get to soak up the excitement of the rest of the day for free. All we ask is 2 hours and one of the jobs actually involves watching the hockey so theres every reason to say yes!

The match schedule is as follows:

Saturday
10.30: Pegasus v UCD
12.30: Loreto v Hermes
15.00: Banbridge v Pembroke
17.00: Monkstown v TRR

3 finals over the weekend for the mens 5ths, ladies 3rds and Minor A girls!

HQ was packed over the weekend with all Leinster senior and junior girls cup finals being held in our grounds!

We had some interest ourselves in some of the games with our mens 5ths, ladies 3rds and Minor A girls all being involved.

The mens 5ths had a big 3-0 win over Wicklow to top off a fine season for them!

The ladies 3s were narrowly beaten by Mulling 1-0 in a tight game. Thanks to coach Luke Chadwick for all his work this year.

The Minor A girls needed FOUR rounds of penalties before a winner could be crowned in their game. Unfortunately Alex won in the end but well done to the girls and coach Alan White on a great season.

Finally, the junior girls had their final day of training for the season on Sunday morning. Congrats to all the girls who won their player of the season awards. We’re already looking forward to welcoming everyone back early next September!

Ladies 3s and Mens 5ths in Cup finals this weekend!

Huge weekend for the club this weekend as we see two sides compete for cup glory!!!!

The ladies 3rds face Mullingar at home at 2.45 on the front pitch. Its one a piece with both teams beating each other once already this season. Led by Luke Chadwick and with Solo on hand to bang in a few goals this team has settled nicely with many of our u16s from last year demonstrating some great skills to settle into ladies hockey this season. All support welcome!!!!

On the mens side the 5ths hope to add to their already whopper season when they face Wicklow in Corinthians at 1pm. Having come bottom of the division last season the 5ths have been outstanding this year and sit very comfortably at the top of their league table.

Plenty of time to support both teams in one day…please get out, wear your Rovers colours and get behind our teams!!
