TRRHC Youths 2020/2021

If there is anyone interested in coaching the Youths at TRRHC from September 2020 please contact Chris on youths@threerockrovershc.com.

We are already planning for September 2020 and it would be great if we have a big selection of coaches to choose from so that we can continue to develop the Youths at all levels.

We have a support structure in place for all coaches to develop their coaching ability, management and confidence and we would love to share our vision with you.

Step 1 – Fundamentals
The Fundamentals of Coaching Hockey course is designed to provide an understanding of the key aspects of hockey coaching. Participants will learn how to prepare sessions, how to break down and coach key hockey techniques and how to develop those techniques into skills through conditioned games. Completing the FOCH is essential for those coaches wishing to undertake the Level 1.

Step 3 – Level 1
Hockey Ireland Level 1 Coaching Course is the second step on the Coaching Pathway. Level 1 is designed for people looking to lead group sessions. The course is delivered on the basis that attendees are coaching a range of age groups, from young children to adults focusing mainly on Phases 2 and 3 of HookedforLife. Play-Practice-Play is the common methodology covered of the course as the vast majority of the coaches will deliver sessions in a game like environment using this key concept.

February 29th 2020 in Old Wesley RFC is the date and location for the annual Three Rock Rovers Club Dinner!

All Members are cordially invited to an evening of celebration, fine dining and dancing!

Tipping off at 7.30pm til late, dust off those dancing shoes and dance the night away after a 3 course meal.

What does it cost to attend?
€60 is the price for any and all members!

What type of dancing shoes you say?
Black tie is the dress code to impress with on the night!

Mid-term camp February 17th-21st
The first camp of 2020 at Grange Road is fast approaching!
We are running a mid-term camp for children from 2nd class up to 2nd year from Monday the 17th to Friday the 21st up at the Club!

Irish Indoor in Santandar
Good luck to Harry Morris, Ross Canning, Mark English and long time Rovers alumni Stephen West (Westy) who are representing the Irish Men’s Indoor side in the EuroHockey Championships III in Santandar this weekend after a 30 year absence from the International Indoor scene!

Memorial Service
A Memorial Service for the late Patricia Markham(neé Warwick) will be held on Friday 31st January 2020 at 11.30am in Adelaide Road Presbyterian Church, Dublin 2.

Neville Cup Final 2019
The Men’s Neville Cup are once again in the final and looking to defend their crown for another year! This year they face Clontarf on December 26th at 2pm with the added benefit of home comfort as we are hosting the Final this year!

There will be collections on the day for ParaHockey Ireland.

We are looking forward to hosting what will be great afternoon of hockey at Grange Road. The bar will be open from 1.30 and after the match as well! Leave the car at home and work off the Christmas dinner by beinr part of Rovers Roar this Stephens Day!

Rovers Road to Turkey
As part of TRR Men’s Indoor fundraising and preparation for their bow in the Indoor Club Trophy in Alanya, Turkey between February 14th – 16th 2020 they are running a series of indoor sessions over Christmas!

Rockets Christmas Rendezvous
The Rockets had their last training session of 2019 and what a goal fest it was! The final tally was somewhere around 11! Huge thanks to the men’s 1sts and women’s 3rds who helped with the game. We had a special guest as Irish international Daragh Walsh made a guest appearance at the after party, much to the delight of hat trick hero Hannah Winston. (Pictured below right)

The clubhouse provided the perfect setting for the well-earned pizza. We are taking a small weather break and will be back on 14th January (weather permitting).

A special thanks to our volunteer coaches who give so much of their time to make sure our Rockets have a lot of fun and are massively improving their hockey skills!

A huge shout out to Siobhan Madeley, who started the ParaHockey movement in the Club and alongside the likes of Hannah O’Byrne, Scott Mulligan and numerous other coaches and supporters over the past couple seasons have gotten the Rockets and ParaHockey in Dublin to where it is today!

Youth Report November 23rd-24th

Saturday – The Under 10 Boys entertained Corinthians Hockey Club in weather conditions that weren’t exactly brilliant,however, what was brilliant was the standard of hockey from both teams, hope to do it again soon.

Sunday
1st Class, 2nd Class, 3rd Class, 4th Class – Blitzes against Wicklow and Bray – great performance by all as they continue to develop their skills within game situations under the watchful eye of the coaches.

Inter A – lost to Pembroke with a last minute goal, the opposition having four Inter Pros and four in the Ireland training panel.

Under 8 Boys – we entertained approximately 130 Under 8 boys from 13 different Leinster clubs at TRRHC in this years TRRHC Under 8 Boys Blitz, the weather held off and a great big thank you to Robert Nathan and his team of parental volunteers for smoothly running the Blitz.
The coaches were great getting stuck in to helping the boys improve their skills.

In total 210 Youths represented the club this weekend across 14 squads.

The future of the club is bright.

Leaders in Hockey – Female Leadership Conference
Hockey Ireland are hosting a one day conference to launch their Women in Sport programme, Leaders in Hockey, this Sunday in the National Sports Campus.

The Senior Indoor League details have been announced for the coming season with Rovers having representation in both the Men’s and Ladies competitions. Both teams are Group A of their respective tournaments with the Men’s tipping off on December 8th in St Columba’s College with the Ladies following suit the weekend after on the 15th.

D16 derby day: Impromptu clubhouse social*

With our Men’s 2’s, 3’s and 4’s all at home to YMCA on Sat 16th Nov the bar will be open from 4:30pm through to closing for an impromptu social night in the clubhouse. We’ve invited the YM teams to join us for pizza and drinks after the games so whether you’re playing in Loreto, Railway, Bray, Monkstown or Avoca that day you’re more than welcome to join us at any stage of the evening.
