3. Last week’s results round-up: Strong opening days wins for the M2 and M4 sides while the W2, W4 and M1 teams all drew to keep their unbeaten start to the season going!

For the M2 side, new captain Mark English scored a hat trick as they swept aside Monkstown 6-1 to begin their title defence on the front foot. The M4s, under the watchful eye of Bono and the Edge on the Mount Temple clock tower, came back twice from a goal down to beat Clontarf 3-2 with Andy Bond firing the winner with five minutes to go. Big shout-out to Tom Dillon who provided two assists on debut.

Alex-Anne Kennedy was on the mark for the second week in a row as the W2 side drew 1-1 with Loreto; the W4 team drew a lively 2-2 battle early on Saturday morning with Botanic to make it four points from six.

In the EYHL, two Ben Johnson corner goals saw the M1 draw with Avoca 2-2 before some James Coffey heroics earned a shoot-out bonus point; we have five points from six thus far ahead of a big game with Banbridge on Saturday. Elsewhere, no joy for the W1 or M5 in Newpark where Avoca were the victors 3-0 and 7-0 respectively while the W3 lost 4-1 in Wicklow.

There were lots of youth blitzes at HQ on Saturday morning against Monkstown with the U12s and 10s playing coming to visit while the U16s and 14s played friendlies on Friday evening. The U8s blitz succumbed to the Sunday deluge so they get their first games in this week at Wesley with YMCA.
