Week two of the competitive season and the intensity ramping up! First home games of the season for the men’s and women’s firsts; first league games for the women’s 2^nd, 3^rd and 4^th teams and the first blitzes of the season for the girls section!

Here’s a quick round-up of all that’s going on!

1. This week’s league fixtures

Saturday, September 19^th

Home

11am (front) – W3 vs UCD (league)

11am (back) – M4/5 vs Corinthian (friendly)

1pm (front) – M1 v Cork Harlequins (EYHL)

1pm (back) – M3 v YMCA (friendly)

3pm (front) – W1 v Muckross (EYHL2Q)

3pm (back) – W2 v Monkstown (league)

Away

4pm (Skerries CC) – W4 v Skerries (league)

A massive home curtain-raiser for the season with the M1 and W1 sides playing back-to-back on the front pitch. The men are up against Cork Harlequins at 1pm in their opening EY Hockey League game with the women on straight after at 3pm against Muckross. The women’s 3rds (11am vs Monkstown) and 2nds (3pm v Monkstown) both have their first league games while there are men’s friendlies on the back pitch at 11am on the back pitch. Bar open and food available all day.

Sunday, September 20^th

11am (Whitechurch Park) – Minor girls v Corinthian (friendly)

9am to 12pm (Loreto Dalkey) – blitzes for 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd, 4^th, 5^th class groups

2. Last week’s league result: Opening day of the season saw the women’s firsts play a hard-fought battle in St Mark’s against Glenanne with a final quarter goal earning the hosts a 2-1 win. Esme Donaghy got the club’s first competitive goal of 2026/27 with a first quarter goal.

3. October mid-term camp (Oct 27^th to 30^th) – early notice for this camp which runs during the half-term break for senior infants to 6^th class boys and girls, member and non-members. From 9.30am to 2.30pm Price is €120

4. Rovers representing- Congrats to Ollie Cox (U16), Josh Kelly, Louis Rothwell and Simon Montgomery (U18) who have been included in the latest Irish underage boys development block!

5. Groundforce! – the club will run another day of gardening works around the club in the coming weeks for which we will be looking for volunteers to take part! More info to follow

New windows and doors will be installed in the clubhouse at the end of October

6. Re-turn – the club continues to collect your Re-Turn bottles and cans with collection bins available on the fireplace in the bar. It has proven a very handy source of income for the club so please consider dropping your empties in!
