Results from the 18th of Feb, and a look ahead to Super Saturday as all our teams play at home

We have a bumper day of hockey planned for this weekend as we host all of our senior teams at home for the only time this season!

We have eight games for you to choose from as well as the rugby on tv, the bar will be open and there will be finger food later in the evening too. What more could one want?! Some of our teams are already planning team nights out to make a day of it so make sure to join in!

Kicking off the day at 11am on the front pitch we have the ladies 2s playing Monkstown in the league. Last week they drew 1-1 with Botanic, when Katie Dowling scored their goal. At the same time the mens 4ths play Weston on the back pitch, hoping to recover from their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Navan last week.

On the back pitch our mens 5ths play Mullingar at 12.40pm before the ladies 1sts take on Loreto at 2.20pm. The girls had a huge win over Alex last weekend (Grace and Angharad scoring in a 2-0 win) and will look to continue their unbeaten league streak they have held since Christmas.

Our lunchtime game on the front is our victorious mens 2nds team who take on Corinthians having already won the league with a month still left on the calendar! They won 5-3 against Pembroke last week to seal their fate (Shane Madeley, Luke Adams, Dave Story and Peter Lynch with the goals), but they wont be able to enjoy Saturdays festivities too much as on Sunday they have a huge semi final against Bandon in the Irish Junior Cup. Be sure to pop up for 3pm on Sunday to give the lads as much support as possible.

The 2s are followed by the mens 1sts who take on local rivals Monkstown at 3pm in what is a crucial game for both teams EYHL top 4 hopes. The lads had a huge 3-1 over Garvey last week, despite missing four players. In what is a testament to our youth section, all goals coming from schoolboys (Rob McCollum, Conor Empey, Mark Samuel)!!

They are followed by the mens 3s on the back pitch at 4pm, who take on YMCA, who will hope to repeat their whopper 5-0 win of last week. Phil Shearer nabbed a hat-trick and was joined on the scoring sheet by Ali Empey and Arthur Johnson.

Finally, but certainly not least is our table topping ladies 3s who play on the front pitch at 5pm. Despite losing to North Kildare in a back match on Sunday, the girls 2-1 over Bray on Saturday ensured that they stay top of the table and remain the team to beat!

Phew…..after all that the rugby will be showing with kick off at 16.50. Given the entertainment and energy of the day, pints and other beverages will definitely be called for!
