Indoor magic for Irish All-Star cast in Cape Town

Six Rovers represented the club at the spectacular Nkosi Cup and PSI Indoor series in Cape Town, South Africa.

Harry MacMahon and Ryan Williams both made their senior indoor international debuts for the Irish men in the Nkosi Cup alongside Ross Canning and James Walker with Ireland earning bronze with a final win over New Zealand.

Hannah and Juliette Duffy, meanwhile savoured a unique experience for the invitational Ireland All Stars Under-18 team at the PSI Indoor Championships! The tournament saw them play several games against teams from one of the world’s leading countries in this version of the sport.

Ben shines with big Rovers connection in Argentina

Ben Pasley lined in all four of Ireland’s matches at the FIH Pro League in Argentina, facing the hosts twice and England twice in Santiago del Estero where he got expert guidance in his debut series from club heroes Daragh Walsh, Ben Walker and Conor and Ali Empey as well as club coach Ashlin Freddy who is the side’s assistant coach!

For a new-look Irish side, it was a hugely beneficial trip with the highlight being a 3-3 draw against world number two side England in searing heat and in front of a lively home crowd.

Congrats Ben on a super series!

Race Night fundraiser set for date in new year

Our Race Night fundraiser is gathering momentum with a lot of sponsors and supporters already in place for what promises to be great craic and will go a long way to helping us make big upgrades to our facilities.

Due to the volume of work that has already gone into the event and its potential to be a huge night, the decision has been taken to find a new date early in 2025 to ensure we maximise its success!

Once a date is confirmed, tickets will be released in due course. They will include a meal and entry to the six races which each have prizes on offer.

To this end, the organising team have already received several pledges of sponsorship from local businesses and are also welcoming offers for spot/raffle prizes.

If you know someone who would like to offer further items, contact organisers Fraser Morris (+353 87 413 2316), Scott Crombie (+353 87 610 4370) and Heather Bowen (+87 779 1375).

Pitch development project gets sports capital boost

As you will know, our application for a Sports Council grant was recently deemed invalid but the club submitted a vigorous appeal on the grounds that it clearly had put in place a strategy to have sufficient funds to complete the works were it to receive funding under the grants scheme.

We are delighted to announce that our appeal has been successful and consequently the club has been awarded €145k towards the costs of our new pitch development in summer 2025.

When the specific details of our case were made known directly to the Minister, Catherine Martin, she fully supported our position and personally ensured that a fair and very satisfactory outcome was secured for the club. We are very grateful to the Minister for her help.

While this grant happily ensures financially that we can proceed with the works, we still need to reach our sinking fund €50k) and member fundraising (€50k) targets.

If you have any queries please contact either of the undersigned.
