Club colours in UCD on Saturday please for the mens 1sts semi-final!

This weekend is a massive one for the mens 1sts as they face the finals of the Irish Senior Cup, one of hockeys oldest competitions! The lads have beaten Belfast Harlequins and Fingal to get to this stage and are now facing Monkstown in a repeat of last years semi-final.

Their game takes place at 5pm in Belfield so plenty of tie for everyone to finish their own games before making your way to UCD to support the lads. We want to see everyone in club colours as the guys take on the Leinster league winners.

The winner will then play the next day at 3.30pm, also in UCD.

A full schedule of the weekends games is as follows:

Saturday
10.30: UCD v Railway (women)
12.30: Pembroke v Lurgan (women)
3pm: Pembroke v Lisnagarvey (men)
5pm: TRR v Monkstown (men)

Update for the ladies development

The last few years have been tough for the ladies side of the club with family and work commitments resulting in a decrease in players. The girls have been superb in stepping up to help the club out by playing multiple games per weekend, however we recognise that this is not sustainable.

In an effort to maintain and grow our existing structures Siobhan and Mandy have set up a working group of players with volunteers from each team coming forward to be on it. Their first meeting is tonight with the following players attending on behalf of their teams:
Sinead Holden
Jess Rule
Laura Stephens
Aedamair Cassidy
Ali McCabe

Scorelines and this weeks times!

Following the mens 5ths 1st league win of the season the week before, the ladies 4ths ensured they had the same stat on Saturday as they hit 3 past Guiness to secure three points! Solo scored twice while Laura Stephens grabbed the 3rd!

The 2s and 3s earned valuable points with a 1-1 and 0-0 draw against Our Ladies and Monkstown respectively! Ali McCable scored the goal for the 2nds.

The 1sts had a tough 2-0 loss away to Railway on Saturday. Their re-fix v table toppers Pemrboke had to be postponed once more on Wednesday as Met Eireanns red weather warning deemed the game unsafe to play.

This week the 1sts host 3rd place Muckross who are looking to secure their promotion playoff spot. The game will be played at home at 11am. The 2s have an early 10am start away to Botanic, while the 4s have another late game with a 5pm away trip to Avoca. The 3rds face Glenanne at home at 3.30 on the back pitch.

On the mens side the 2s secured their spot in Division 2 with a 1-1 draw against Trinity on Saturday. Their final league game against Clontarf then was a more comfortable affair with the lads winning 4-2.

The mens 3s lost 4-3 out in Clontarf while the 5ths also fell foul to Clontarf, losing 3-0. The mens 2s grabbed a 2-2 draw to Fingal.

This week the 3rds play away to Railway at 11am, while the 5ths have an 11.45am start in Avoca. The 4ths meanwhile play at home at 1pm against Mullingar

Finally the mens 1sts play their final league game v Glenanne away tonight at 8.15 before their big weekend in the Irish Senior Cup.

U16 trip, St.Patricks Day, Club dinner, IHL forum

Full IHL Forum
The IHA are holding an open forum for any interested parties to attend on the 26th of Feb in their offices at 7.30pm. The forum will discuss the potential move towards a full All Ireland league at the beginning of next season. The potential move would see the top 5 clubs in Leinster move out of the provincial leagues and into a full IHL, with the Leinster league then being restructured.

The potential change has implications for both our mens and ladies 1sts teams as the men will possibly be part of this proposed new structure, while the ladies placing in the divisions may also change.

Results from 8th/9th of Feb, fixtures for the 15th/16th

Last weekends interpros resulted in a slightly decreased fixture list as division 1 and 2 of the mens and ladies did not have any games.

There was no rest for our other teams however, with

The mens 3rds recorded a 4-2 win away to Glenanne with some new faces lining out for the first time in Rovers colours. Antoine and Betrand our new Belgian imports grabbed a goal each to secure the win. Betrand has a previous link to Rovers having being coached by Mitch Darling while in Leuven! They play away to Clontarf at 12.30 on Saturday

The mens 5ths grabbed their first win of the season with a convincing 5-3 scoreline against Pembroke! They also face Clontarf with a 2pm home game.

The 4ths were without a game last weekend but will look to maintain their 2nd placed position against Fingal at home at 3.30

The 1sts are without a game this weekend once again but face Rathgar tonight (Tuesday) at 7.30 away, before their final league game against Glenanne next Tuesday at 8.15pm away.

The 2nds meanwhile have an important double weekend. Things are tight in division 2 but they will ensure they maintain their status if they can overcome Trinity at 2.40 on Saturday and Clontarf at home at 4pm on Sunday.

On the ladies side the 4ths trip to Newbridge was postponed towards the end of last week meaning that only the 2s and 3s had league games. The 2nds had a tough ask against 2nd placed Muckross, losing 1-0 in a very tight game, while Monkstown were too strong for the 3rds

The u16A girls were unlucky in their cup game away to Genesis. They dominated play but found themselves all square at the time of time. A penalty shoot out decided the winner and unfortunately the girls were knocked out. Hard luck!

This week the 1sts face unbeaten Pembroke at home at 8.30 on Wednesday night before a crucial tie on Saturday away to Railway at 2pm.

The 2nds play Our Ladies away at 3.15pm while the 3s host Malahide at 11am before the 4ths finish off the day at home to Guiness at 5pm.

Quieter weekend than usual up ahead due to inter pro action

This weekends u21 interpros sees a shorter senior schedule this weekend, while any teams scheduled to have matches will play away from home to accommodate the competition.

On the mens side only the 3rds and 5ths have games with the 3s playing Glenanne at 3.30 and the 5s Pembroke at 12.30. Last weekend the mens 3s game was called off late in the week so they will be rearing to get back on the pitch!

On the ladies side the 3rds play a refix against Clontarf at 8.20 away on Wednesday before facing Monkstown on Saturday. They went 2 up early last week but were unable to hold onto their lead, losing to Swords.

The 4s came undone by table toppers Rathgar 6-0 on Saturday in appalling weather conditions. They will be hoping for a drier climate away to Newbridge at 3.30

The 2s meanwhile were unlucky not to get points on the board last week as they lost by one goal both Saturday and last Wednesday. Their away trip this week is only to Muckross who they face at 2pm.

The ladies 1s will have a weekend off to rebuild ahead of a crucial last few games of the season after they lost to Hermes on Saturday.

On the mens side the 2nds have a weekend off too but will be happy with their important 4-1 win over Weston last Sunday.

The 4s will be disappointed to have lost their top of the table clash with Kilkenny by a single goal. Reports from their game can be seen here:
https://www.threerockrovershc.com/s/team-latest-68290.html

The 1sts overcame Fingal 7-2 in the quarter final of the Irish Senior Cup on Saturday before winning 3-2 against YMCA on Sunday. A few pics from their Sunday game can be seen in this years Action shots folder.
They officially conceded the league to Monsktown on Sunday courtesy of the blues 4-2 win over Glenanne however the lads need just a point from their remaining two games to secure 2nd spot. Their scheduled game v Rathgar has been changed to Tuesday night.

The u16 boys meanwhile had a strong 7-0 win over Avoca at the weekend to keep up their great run!

Huge congrats to the u14 boys side who won the indoor Tommy O’Sullivan Cup last weekend in Donabate. They beat Monkstown, Wicklow, Railway and YMCA in the finals weekend to lift the cup!
Well done to all the boys and their coach Niall Denham
