November 17th promises to be a great day at HQ!

November 17th promises to be a busy day at the Club with 5 Senior teams, Loreto and Juniors training all at HQ!
Subject to change, the Men’s 1s, 2s and 3s are at HQ alongside the Ladies 2s, 3s and Loreto who are playing their home games on the back pitch this season.

The club are holding a grand opening of the newly laid back pitch on November 17th at 12.15pm in conjuction with the Club being jam packed with players, supporters and family from all corners of Ireland as the likes of Belfast Harlequins, Cork C of I and Enniscorthy are down to visit Grange Road that Saturday!

It will be an amazing day to celebrate having two world class pitches, watch some amazing hockey and catch up with friends on and off the pitch!!

The men’s firsts have a mouth watering challenge ahead of them next Easter!

After a superb weekend in Barcelona at the start of the month where the men’s firsts dispatched of Racing Club de France and earned a hard fought point against Junior FC, their Spanish hosts, to reach the KO16 the men’s firsts have to navigate the challenge of KHC Dragons to go any further in Eindhoven next April.

It is a familiar foe as they faced the same opposition last time round in Rotterdam in their classification match which ended 20-10 in favour of the Belgians. This time around they will be facing the Dragons with, hopefully, a fully fit squad compared to Rotterdam where the team got struck by illness. If they beat their well renowned opposition they’d face a KO8 tie against either Surbiton or Waterloo Ducks.

There is exciting times ahead for the gents and the Club as we look forward to Rovers Roar being heard in Europe again this season! Keep an eye out for any and all fundraising initiatives over the coming months and if you feel like you can contribute to #RoversRoadtoEindhoven in any way it would gladly be accepted!

Barcelona success, subs, fixtures and more

EHL success!
After two immense performances the Men’s firsts qualified for the KO16 next April by finishing top of Group D in Barcelona. A 6-0 win and a 1-1 draw saw the boys home. They await the draw, on October 21st, live from Orange-Rood to see who they will face in Europe’s best men’s club competition between the 17th and 22nd of April!

Below is a message that Pauline, TRRHC president, received from Monkstown congratulating the gents on their success.

Dear Pauline,
On behalf of Monkstown HC I wanted to pass on our congratulations on the success of your Men in the EHL at the weekend. It is a fantastic achievement for all involved and we wish you the very best in the your preparation for the KO16.

Kind regards
Ali Shaw

Subs for the coming season are due, the payment link has been live for some weeks now.

Members,

Your subs for the coming season are due. The payment link, on the website and included in the last few newsletters, has been live for many weeks by this point. The subs are vital in helping the Club function to the best of its abilities. This is even more the case this season due to the significant financial outlay over the summer relating to the laying of the new pitch and other on going and planned maintenance procedures in the pipeline. The upkeep of the decking, roofing and electrics to name just a few of the things that are required to be done sooner rather than later.

If you have not paid your subs, you are not insured when you play on a pitch. Coaches, insurance, umpires, tournament fees are just some of the things that require payment and enable you to play or watch the hockey that you enjoy up at Grange Road.

Payment of subs in a timely manner plays a role in all of the above. Please do so without haste at the link below.

PAY NOW

If you have paid, thank you and you can ignore this email, however, you can help by encouraging others to follow your lead and pay their respective subs.

SENIOR SUBS INCREASE COME OCTOBER 1st 2018. NO EXCEPTIONS. Please contact the club if you need to discuss your subs situation.

Girls InterPros up at HQ this weekend, the rockets had a special visitor to training and more!

Matthews boosts Rockets on Tuesday
Loreto’s Hannah Matthews joined rockets training on Tuesday night, inspiring our young players! Hannah, one of the Irish women’s hockey team who took hold at the recent World Cup, spoke to the players and parents, praising them on how much they had improved since her last visit to us before the euros in 2017.
Hannah took time to chat to the players, got stuck into the drills, showed them her medal! She was suitably impressed to see our ParaHockey medals from this year’s euros in Barcelona!

Our rockets are going from strength to strength with 4 new members who are setting into being a part of our great club!

Huge thanks to the support of Sherry Fitz for their support of our rockets, lovely new balls courtesy of them! More news coming soon on blitzes and trips!

We are still open to new players. Contact Siobhán on 0879066379.
