Results for the weekend of Oct 1st; Fixtures for the weekend of October 7th

All senior leagues have now officially kicked off!

The ladies sides got started last week with some mixed results. The firsts had a tight loss against YMCA, losing 2-1. They will be disappointed to concede two soft goals, but their corner routine looked strong, with Aoife McNulty poaching a goal on the far post. This week they play Muckross 2nds away in Muckross park at 2.45pm.

The ladies 2nds have seen a number of last years 3rds make the step up two divisions. Although they lost 3-1 to Railway they showed some promising attacking flair which they will hope to develop as the season progresses. Siobhan Matthews nabbed the single goal for the team. This week they take on UCD away.

The ladies 3rds meanwhile played out a tough 2-2 draw with Rathgar, with Mandy Bools stepping between the posts. Daisy Ryan and Aedamair Cassidy got on the scoresheet and will hope to repeat that this week as they play North Kildare at home at 3pm.

On the mens side, the 1sts got their first win of the season under their belts, beating Glenanne 2-0, with Luke Madeley and Kevin Mullins scoring. This week they take a break as the mens EYHL league steps back and allows players and supports travel to Bainbridge for the EHL (more info in ‘News in brief’).

The 2nds also played Glenanne, and had a comprehensive 5-0 win with Louis Glass scoring two, along with Arthur Johnson, Dylan Shirley, and Brian Mellon. This week they play host to UCD 2nds at home at 1pm.

The 3rds also had a big win last week, pushing aside Pembroke 6-1. The goals were shared impressively among six different players, with Iain Patterson, Ross Henderson, Stu-Rigby Jones, Ross Johnson, Scott Crombie and Daniel Graham scoring. They are home again this week, playing Monkstown at 3pm.

The 4ths also beat Pembroke but with a tighter scoreline of 2-1, with Greg Sykes and Jamie Pullen scoring. They play Mullingar away bright and early at 10.30am this week!

Finally, but not least, the mens 5ths drew 2-2 with Monkstown, Smiler and Glenn Webb getting the goals. They play Fingal away at 2.30pm.
